Why in China

China locates in East Asia. It is the world's most populous country, with a population of over 1.35 billion. It has a vast landscape, which covers approximately 9.6 million square kilometers. As one of the world's earliest civilization –Chinese civilization has flourished for millennium.

China is unparalleled in its beauty and geographical diversity – from steppes, Gobi deserts of the north and northwest to subtropical forests prevalent in the wetter south near Southeast Asia. The Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, the third- and sixth-longest in the world, have their sources in the sparkling mountain glaciers of Tibetan Plateau and continue to the densely populated eastern plains and seaboards.

Since the introduction of opening and reform in 1978, China has become the world's fastest-growing major economy. Now it is the world's second-largest economy by nominal total GDP, and the world's largest economy by purchasing power parity (PPP), and is also the world's largest exporter and importer of goods. It is a country of changes and hopes. 

Chinese society is ethnically diverse – made up of 56 nationalities, among them 55 are minority groups. Chinese culture is rich, unique, dynamic and sophisticated. It is a culture that celebrates many different lifestyles, and stories. 

With the growing global status of China, within trade, tourism and education, study in China is seeing huge increases in popularity. According to statistics, 397,635 international students were studying in China in 2015, while more than nine million students took the national university entrance examination every year, making China home to one of the largest education systems in the world.

By 2020, the Chinese government aims to have 500,000 international students enrolled in Chinese higher education. A growing number of international scholarships are being offered across the country.
