Mathematics and Statistics

The School of Mathematics and Statistics of Zhengzhou University, one of the earliest established schools in this university, was founded in 1956, and its predecessor was the Department of Mathematics which was renamed as the School of Mathematics and Statistics in April 2013.

Now, the school offers doctoral programs, including Basic Math, and Mathematics; 5 second-level doctoral programs: Basic Math, Applied Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Operational Research and Cybernetics, and Probability and Mathematical Statistics; and master programs: Computational Mathematics, Operational Research and Cybernetics, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics; as well as corresponding undergraduate programs. The Mathematics Discipline of this school is the only one that provides doctoral programs in Henan Province.

This school, with outstanding teaching staff, has 95 academic members, including 24 professors, 35 associate professors, wherein 60 of them are PhD holders, 11 of them are doctoral supervisors, and 40 master supervisors.

In the recent 5 years, the school has undertaken 42 projects, including those projects and key projects supported by National Science Foundation, and those supported by National 973 Plan, and other 30 provincial and ministerial projects. In this school a system with undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral education has been formed, and many of these graduates are now holding important positions in their work units, private sectors, and academic institutions.
